Real-time video dashboard to support hybrid education
The University of Groningen asked if Spark Narrowcasting could be linked with the video platform Kaltura to display information from Kaltura on a screen in the lecture hall faculty office.

In collaboration with the University of Groningen, Spark has realized this link with video platform Kaltura via Epiphan decoders. The information from the link with Kaltura is displayed on a real-time video dashboard, assuring lecturers in lecture halls that lectures can be followed online by students and that teaching is hybrid.

Real-time Narrowcasting dashboard
The designed video dashboard shows to lecturers the camera image, presentation and a visual representation of the audio so that they can be sure that the lecture is being streamed and recorded. The video dashboard includes elements such as recording status, live status, camera image, presentation, audio level and information related to the current- and next-course.
A 10-inch ProDVX display with good visibility and light output is used to display the video dashboard. A functional bracket ensures that the display becomes part of the teacher's desk in a sleek manner.
