Forum Groningen

The arrival of the Forum has definitively changed the skyline of Groningen. A natural stone colossus, characterized by its striking shape. A building about which everyone has an opinion. With a roof terrace from which, on clear days, you can see Assen.

More

The Forum excels in modernity

Behind the sliding doors is a pyramid full of culture. Exhibitions, talk shows, events, the latest films... The Forum is the place where curious people meet. It is also home to the renovated Storyworld and the Groningen Tourist Office.

If you stand on the first floor and look up, you will see a succession of futuristic escalators. The sleek design looks sterile. Giant digital information screens make physical posters redundant - current content is always and everywhere, on every floor. From the parking garage to the sky lounge.

Collaboration
The Forum searched for a party that would actively consider the possibilities of digital signage. This involved more than fifty screens at the main location and another eight in district branches. Requirements: lean-and-mean, user-friendly and meet set requirements.

We are proud to announce that this party has been found in Spark Narrowcasting.

The Project
On almost every floor of the Forum hangs a narrowcasting screen. These are provided with content by the internal Marketing & Communications department.

There are also some unique displays. For example, there are bus shelters at both entrances that display information visible both inside and outside the building. In addition, there is the art object WalkWithMe designed by Studio Peter Musschenga. The art object has no less than thirteen screens and eight players. Five players provide two screens with data. Through two touch screens visitors can request information themselves.

An impressive LED screen hangs on the first floor. 8.60 by 4.80 meters with 4K Uhd resolution. In consultation with the Forum, a special template was created for this display, coupled with two players that provide the screen with various content.

Built into the library among the books are 19-inch screens. These show programming and highlights of the Forum.

Finally, screens showing specific information have been placed in several locations throughout the building. These include in Wonderland, Smartlab and Storyworld.

Links
A link has been established with Yesplan for displaying the calendar, announcing activities and highlighting events that are almost sold out. Also, at the request of the Forum, a link was realized with DVHN, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

Realization
The Forum's corporate identity was developed by G2K. In a joint session, we connected the dots in order to achieve maximum results. In cooperation with Spark Narrowcasting, Forum's Marketing & Communication department looked at the layout of various applications. The Forum determined in advance where the screens should be located. The test session, shortly before the opening, was successful.

On November 29, 2019, the Forum opened its doors to the public. The complex has since won several awards, including that for Best Building of the Year 2020.
