The city hospital of Greater Amsterdam

OLVG has been at the center of the society of unique Amsterdam for over a century and a half. OLVG wants to play a key role in improving health and care for everyone in the urban environment. For a better life in a healthier Amsterdam.

The project
OLVG wanted to take the current use of narrowcasting to the next level. Ease of use and patient orientation were two important starting points. OLVG uses LG webOS screens. These screens have an integrated player. Some outpatient clinics and departments at the main locations East and West are equipped with screens. The narrowcasting screens have different dimensions, tailored to the space where the screen is used.

Slide layouts
In the Spark application, slide layouts are ready entirely in the house style of OLVG. Users can easily and quickly place information on the screens in accordance with the house style. In this way, patients are continuously presented with up-to-date hospital-related information. The content created by the OLVG is varied, alternating between images, video and text reporting.

The on and off times of the screens are tailored to the regular opening hours of a department or outpatient clinic. Departments and outpatient clinics can very easily adjust this to their own situation. This prevents unnecessary screens being left on.

Links
OLVG uses Spark's walk-out time module in a number of departments. The hospital uses the module to give patients insight into any walkout time of an attending physician at the outpatient clinic. On the screens, a patient can see exactly how long the waiting time is. Patients thus know where they stand without having to ask at the front desk how long the wait is. The module makes managing outpatient times much easier for a front desk employee.

For displaying serial numbers in pharmacies, the link with Apotheek Partners is deployed. To realize the perfect total experience for the patient in the pharmacy, Pharmacy Partners offers the solution in the form of the serial numbering system Recipe & Number. The calls are thus displayed directly on our narrowcasting, sleekly designed in the design of a slide layout.

At the request of OLVG, we have made the regional news feed of AT5 available. This news section can now become part of the playlist of the outpatient clinic or department if desired.

Bianca Franken (senior communicatieadviseur) en Heleen de Zeeuw (communicatiemedewerker)
"The power of digital signage was already known to us. Content plays a major role, but the basis of a user-friendly system was missing. Spark offered us the right solution for this; a simple system that nevertheless has sufficient possibilities to offer patient-oriented information per department or outpatient clinic via an attractive playlist. Contact with Spark is customer- and goal-oriented and fast. We are pleased that we were able to implement quickly and are now focusing on the further development of narrowcasting in OLVG."
